Vegetarian and Pescetarian Eats at Newks Eatery

It has been over a year now that I’ve converted a pescetarian diet. Mainly my diet is a vegeterain meals, with a couple days a week eating fish. I thought that going out to eat would be a difficult task at first. That all I would be able to eat are “sides” if I wasn’t choosing a fish dish. I was pleasantly surprised that I am wrong. I wanted to share with you all what I’ve found from some of the Atlanta area restaurants (with some of them being chain restaurants so you can enjoy them in other cities/States as well). First restaurant up for review; Newk’s Eatery!

There is a Newks Eatery close to my house. I use to frequent them a lot when they offered Kid’s Eat Free on weekends a few years ago (that has now ended, but some stores may still offer that deal). A few months a go I noticed a coupon for Newks that was a BOGO deal (and I live for BOGO deals). So, my son and I headed there for lunch one day and have ordered from them several times since.

Pizza at Newk’s Eatery

One of the best items you can choose from would be one of the pizza options. I’ve had just two of the options they serve because they’re amazing and I haven’t wanted to stray from it’s deliciousness. The Five Cheese pizza is a round cheesy perfection. mozzarella,  provolone cheeses, Parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes, smoked gouda and creamy goat cheese over basil pesto sauce is what makes this pizza delicious without feeling too heavy. The sun-dried tomatoes add a perfect sweetness to the cheesy pizza. It’s layered over a light and crisp pizza crust and portioned perfectly for one (but you could definitely share if you pair the pizza with a side salad). This option of for the obvious vegetarian, but of course any pescaterian who consumes dairy as well.

The Spicy Shrimp pizza is also delish. Topped with shrimp, tomatoes, peppers and sprinkled with cilantro and red peppers flakes. It’s spicy but not too spicy. The peppers give it just enough kick, and the tomatoes add a dose of juiciness.

Other pizza options you can try are; Margaritta and Veggie.

Besides pizza, another option that would delight your taste buds is the soups. They offer a different selection of soups daily throughout the week and have several options for both vegetarian or pescaterian diet. It’s honestly not typical to have several soup options as I personally haven’t seen as many as they offer before. Corn & Crab Chowder, Lobster & Crab Bisque, and Pepperjack Crawfish all sound wonderful but the Lobster & Crab Bisque sounds amazing. I have yet to try the soups, but have spoken to people who rave about them.

The Five Bean Chili is a lighter option than the normal chili. It includes some fresh veggies like tomatoes, green poblano peppers and zuccini. This makes is perfect for the winter and the summer. They also offer everyone’s favorite soup to pair with a grilled cheese sandwich, Tomato Basil. This is a creamy tomatoes soup which has carrots and celery in it as well. The Tomato Basil soup is served Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays.

Another all-time favorite is the Broccoli Cheese soup. I have had this one and if you love broccoli and cheese soup, then you’ll love it. It is a perfect ratio of cheese and broccoli. Of course it is a heartier soup, of which I personally prefer more in the cooler months. Last but not least, the Spinach & Feta soup sounds like perfection. I haven’t sampled this one yet, but is it definitely on my list. I think it can be a turn on the classic potato soup. The soup’s ingredients include the obvious feta cheese, spinach and potatoes. However it also includes onions, sour cream and basil (I drool as I write this).

You can eat light with one of their many salad options. Grilled Salmon Casesar, Simply, Chef, Ahi Tuna, Shrimp & Avacado, and Shrimp Remoulade and all options that The Grilled Salmon Caesar stands out to me the most. Why haven’t I thought of mixing salmon and a caesar salad before? As I try them, I will update with my thoughts.

What Else

They have other options to eat as well. Mac & Cheese being one of them. They also offer desserts but I have been good and keeping my distance, however, if I can’t say that it is easy to do so. They have so many options that look amazing! And if you really want to know, they have a chocolate cake that looks like it puts other chocolate cakes to shame. They also carry a strawberry cake and caramel cake that is currently making me drool from the photos alone. For research purposes I should try them… all… tomorrow. I’ll update with my findings. 😉

As I try more and more items for Newks, I’ll come back and update this post. However I do realize this means that I will have to venture out of my norm with the Five Cheese Pizza.

This may be harder than I thought.
