What if I told you that you could visit the Smoky Mountains but go to a place that makes you feel like you’re at a concert on an island and get a great meal? You can, and that place is Margaritaville Pigeon Forge. We visited for a late dinner while we were in Pigeon Forge and had an amazing time. With being busy at home, it was so nice to just sit back, relax, eat good food, have amazing drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and have a great time with my loved ones.
Our visit was a hosted visit to facilitate a review. As always, my opinions are my own
Margaritaville Pigeon Forge Menu
Margartitaville Pigeon Forge has a large selection on their menu to choose from. We have to be picky where we go since we follow a pescatarian diet. Even if there isn’t a lot of fish and seafood options on a menu, we can always eat something that is vegetarian. At Margaritaville, we had a lot to choose from.
Staring with appetizers, we had the Spinach & Artichoke Dip and Lava Lava Shrimp. I LOVED the Lava Lava Shrimp. The aioli sauce was perfection and let’s be honest, you can’t really go wrong with fried shrimp. I could have just ate that and would have been totally happy with that choice. But sharing is caring and my family loves shrimp too, so we all dug into it. We’ve been to another Margaritaville location and we had the Asiago Crab & Artichoke Dip. I personally preferred that over the Spinach & Artichoke. It was more cheesier and I like my cheese (I mean, who doesn’t?). 😉
My son loves pasta. We’ve cut it out at home, so when we go somewhere and it is one the menu, then that is his first choice. He decided on the Cavitappi Pasta with butte sauce and said it was the best he’s ever had. The portion is the perfect amount for a child, even a child of his age. He devoured it!
For myself, I chose the Crab Cakes with fries and a side salad. You can choose from different sides if you want. We ended up swapping our traditional fries for sweet potato fries and were pleased with that decision. The Cajun remoulade was the perfect addition to the crab cakes. I like spicy, so it totally hit the spot. I went back-and-forth with my decision of getting this and Shrimp Tacos, I’ve had the shrimp tacos before and loved them. So it was a hard choice for me. Tacos usually win, but not this night.
My significant other chose the Seafood Mac & Cheese. It’s a Cavatappi pasta with shrimp, crab meat and a Boursin cream sauce. The crab wasn’t lump like we had hoped for. It was actually shredded. With mac & cheese I prefer more cheesy, but it didn’t stop us from eating it.
There were a couple of items that we saw that also looked good, like the Landshark Large Fish & Chips. It is served with a jalapeno tarter sauce. That I haven’t had before, and it totally sounds like something I’d enjoy.
Their portions are large too, you are definitely taking some of it home. I personally always factor that into the price. For me, it’s like I am paying for two meals, since I end up saving mine for a later meal.
One of the main reason someone goes to Margartiaville is for the drinks. I myself am not an alcoholic drinker, but my significant other enjoys a drink every now and then. For myself I was looking for a strawberry lemonade. It’s not on the menu but our server mentioned he could ask the bartender to throw one together for me. Oh…My..Gosh. It was the best strawberry lemonade that I’ve ever had! The Strawberry Lemonade was perfectly sweetened and the flavors of the strawberries and lemonade were bursting!
My son got the 16 oz Light up souvenir cup. It’s an extra charge but the kids can take the cup home. At first he asked for the Parakeet Punch which consist of lemonade, pineapple juice, strawberry and banana purées. He said it was delicious. He then sampled the Green Apple Surprise, which was a combination of Apple juice, cranberry juice, green apple syrup and Sprite. Now with that one, he LOVED! If your kid like sour stuff, then they’ll love the Green Apple Surprise.
My significant other decided to get what Margaritaville is known for. A margarita. He chose the Blueberry Pomegranate Margarita. It is made with Margaritaville Silver Tequila, Cointreau® Orange Liqueur, blueberry pomegranate purée and it is served on the rocks. He enjoyed it and lets just say he felt very good for the rest of the night.
If you’re getting a specialty drink or a draft beer, it may be a good idea to get it in their 22 oz Margartiaville souvenir blender cup. It is an additional cost but you can get a special discount when you take it back to any Margartiaville location.
Margartitaville Pigeon Forge gives the atmosphere of the islands but in the Smokies
From the moment we stepped into Margaritaville Pigeon Forge, we felt like we were transported to a tropical island. If the Smoky Mountains weren’t right outside the window, then you couldn’t tell me otherwise. I felt like I was at a concert, but the concert was totally family friendly. But even with it being family friendly, that doesn’t mean it’s just for families. While we were there we saw a mix of people dining. Families, older couples and even a bachelorette with her friends.
The staff was amazing. From the moment we entered they were all friendly, courteous and seemed genuinely interested in our company. Our server was amazing, very attentive, making sure we were happy and having a good time. We carried on a great conversation with him, he was such a pleasant person to be our server.
We ended up being at Margaritaville Pigeon Forge for a few hours. Of course I was there taking photos, but other than that we totally disconnected and enjoyed each others company. You can’t help but feel that way. And the fact that they offered a menu with so many options that satisfied out diet was a huge plus.
That’s not all we did in Pigeon Forge. A few other things we did was Alcatraz East Crime Museum, Go-cart Racing, Indoor Skydiving and to the Hollywood Wax Museum. Pigeon Forge is such a great family friendly getaway. We will be back for sure.
