My little lovebug is turning 6 soon!!! Ughh, where does the time go? Of course every year he is into different things, and this year was no exception. Every year I’ve made his invites myself, and this year I made it with the help of PicMonkey! If you haven’t used PicMonkey before, it’s a great online photo editing application that is easy to use and FREE. There is an upgraded version that is still very affordable (if you want more than the basics). So here is what I did!
Took a picture that I already had of my little man (can you tell what his theme is?)
Headed over to PicMonkey and got to work!
First, when you open up your photo into PicMonkey, you will click the OVERLAYS tab. It will open up to the left of the picture, click YOUR OWN.
NOTE: to better see the overlay, you may want to make one picture black and white.
Chose your OVERLAY photo. I, of course, chose a picture of Lego’s (what else?!?!)
You then want to fade it (directly above ‘Blend Modes’) out to your choosing.
Than you add text. This isn’t just something you can do for birthdays, but a cheap way to send a holiday postcard! I’ve seen at Hobby Lobby stands that are actually the back of a post card, use a 40% off coupon and you can make your own on any occasion.
I printed 20 from Walmart.com for less then $10. You can always look for deals from other online photo printing places to catch a better deal, but still, .50 for a custom made invite it doable (and besides, the families love them, especially the grandmas)!
Here is the final (EDITED) invite that I made for my little guys birthday party!!
When I uploaded it to Walmart, I added a blue border. I was pleased with how they came out and how easy it was! These days the projects that take the least amount of time are my best friend!! You should definitely try Picmonkey for your editing needs. It’s easy, has a lot of options and FREE!!
