You know I have never been to a wax museum. Yup, never. And we’ve been to several notable cities that offer the attractions; New York, Las Vegas, Los Angels, Orlando, and even DC. I guess I felt like there were other attractions or sights to see that seemed more worthy of my time. On our recent trip to Myrtle Beach, I am glad my friend had another perspective when she mentioned visiting Hollywood Wax Museum.
I received tickets to facilitate a review, as always, my opinions are my own
I can honestly said I didn’t think we were going to have that much fun. It’s so much more than just going to look at wax figures. We had a ball posing with the mannequins and using the props to enhance our photos.
Once we passed a few of then, my son really started to get into character.
He loves activities that are interactive, so a lot of his posing in most of these photos were improved by him. 😉
By the way, this place is huge! I didn’t expect to be this big of an exhibit. Here are a few more snapshots of my son posing with the different celebrities and characters.
He loves Michael Jackson, so her got a kick out of his was figure and loved posing with the glove.
There were a few that didn’t quite look like their real person, but for the most part, they were accurate and the displays around the figure made it that much more fun.
He really got into character here. Thanks for looking so concerned Brendan Fraser 😉
But this isn’t all! Hollywood Wax Museum has a couple more attractions that you can take part in. Outbreak and Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors is definitely something you don’t want to skip out on. We first decided to expereince Outbreak. We’re big Walking Dead fans and love attractions like this. I wasn’t allowed to take photos or videos within the attraction, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. We were totally scared.
It’s about 95% animated figures, lights and sounds with a live person banging on the walls and sticking their hands out of the wall here and there. It sounds like it wouldn’t be scary, but we were eager to get to the end. I knew it was fake, of course and continuously told me son that. over and over…. and over again. I was more scared going through here than when we went to Frightfest at Six Flags. If you’re into being scared, then it is totally for you. If you are one who scared easily, I would pass on this one.
Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors is more toned down and perfect for kids. However, at least someone you’re going with is going to run into a mirror. I promise. My son did it at least twice. I laughed at him and probably not in the running to be Mother of the Year.
Spoiler Alert: He’s fine.
This was fun, I felt like I was a kid again at the fair going through the house of mirrors, only this time it was a lot better!
This was one of my favorite photos that I took of my son.
Of course if you’re looking for a souvenir, they totally have you covered.
So, is it worth going to? Totally! And would totally recommend the all access pass. Here is a link for a $2 coupon if you want to save some extra money during your experience. It’s good until 12/31/2017
